Natalie Crist spent the first decade of her career exploring the inner workings of the human body, and the better part of the second studying the rhythms and relationships of the natural world. Her path has taken her from the laboratory to the garden—from the study of the immune system to the design of living, breathing landscapes.
She holds a BA from Sarah Lawrence College, where she wove together art history, fine art photography, psychology, and writing into a self-directed curriculum. Before transitioning into landscape design, she worked on a research team at Weill Cornell Medical College, focused on autoimmunity and the microbiome.
Today, Natalie brings together her background in science, fine art, and psychology to create immersive, ecologically sensitive gardens. She’s especially drawn to the integration of edible and medicinal plants into ornamental designs, and her projects range from sprawling twenty-acre estates to intimate city spaces.
A Hudson Valley native, Natalie is passionate about thoughtful design in all its forms. She holds a certificate in Sustainable Garden Design from the New York Botanical Garden, as well as a Permaculture Design Certification from Oregon State University.
